Episode Notes

When the rest of the world says America ruins everything they touch, I have to at least listen to what they have to say as this movie is evidence enough in this case. You've heard us talk about a Godzilla we love, now join us in the hatred of this abomination.

GEA - SAG Episode 530: The Scarlet Rot

Double Nintendo Directs? Sounds fun!

Show Notes

On this week’s podcast, Dan and Kris talk about the double feature of Nintendo Directs that happened earlier in the week. Everything announced at both the Indie Showcase and the Partner Showcase will be detailed, scrutinized, and celebrated! How excluded were the guys about the Castlevania Dominus Collection? How amazing does Capcom fighting Collection 2 look? What are Morsels? How tall is Pizza Tower? All will be revealed!
At the top of the show, it was Dean’s birthday! He decided to spend it talking to Dan and Kris about a weird rash on his hands. Apparently he’s allergic to certain Xbox controllers. Dan continued to deal with his cancer treatments, and got a big ol’ surprise from some of our listeners. (You know who you are!) And Kris got to spend some time with the upcoming Atari game Yars Rising, entered the world of online newspaper scans, tried to fix his dryer, and wrestled a basketball hoop.
Finally, in Week Old News, Concord is unsurprisingly having a hard finding an audience. Apparently trying to ape Guardians of the Galaxy and Overwatch 5 years too late is a bad way to spend millions of dollars. Who knew? Plus, Activision continues to be the worst after it’s discovered they canceled a Crash/Spyro crossover game because Crash 4 didn’t sell a trillion copies, Argonaut is back with a fresh remaster of Croc, Sonic 3 gets a Keanu-filled trailer, and more. Enjoy!

GEA - SAG 529: Not Since the Navy

The August 10 20 30 40 holds some big months for PS2 and 3DS!

Show Notes

On this week’s podcast, Dan is back! He and Kris tackled the August 10 20 30 40, where there were soe absolutely killer months for platforms like PlayStation 2 and 3DS, but they weren't alone! Gamecube had Pikmin 2, Game Boy Advance had Astro Boy: The Omega Factor, PS3 got the P.T. Demo, and of course, GALLEON! The next big thing from the creator of Lara Croft! That was a big deal… right? At the top of the show, Dan regails Kris with his tales of chemotherapy. This being Dan, nothing went as planned, and a great amount of hijinks ensued. As a result though, he didn’t get around to playing many games. He did manage to watch all of Kris’s Archeology videos though, because he’s a nice guy! Meanwhile, Kris continued to get over Covid, played through Zelda II because it’s awesome, and planned a Minecraft birthday party for his son. Finally, in Week Old News, SuperMario Maker comes to the Super NES, Eternal Champions is getting made into a major motion picture for some reason, the GameCube gets a new ODE option, and more. Enjoy!

The Alphabet Soup-er Series returns with On the Ball for SNES

Show Notes

On this week’s podcast, Dean fills in for Dan, joining Kris for this month’s Alphabet Soup-er Series! It was Kris’s pick for the letter O and he went with the marble rolling wonder On the Ball for Super NES. It’s an odd game for sure, with some zany music and completely unhinged “cinematic” cutscenes, but is it a good time? How much better does it perform when coupled with the Super NES Mouse? Let’s find out!
At the top of the show, Dean has some dog troubles as he works on getting his new house built, but he still finds time to dive into Steamworld Heist 2. Meanwhile, Kris got Covid, so he had an absolutely miserable week of coughing, sweating, and feeling like death, but also found the time to figure out his ongoing TV situation, play the new Doom releases, the new Vampire Survivors DLC, among other things.
Finally, in Week Old News, Limited Run announces a frankly insane new version of Doom for Super NES, Borderlands crashes and burns at the box office, Jurassic Park: Rampage Edition for Sega Genesis gets patched, and more. Enjoy!

GEA - SAG Episode 527: Why Would Anyone Do This?

Talking NES to SNES Ports with Rumbleminze

Show Notes

On this week’s podcast, Dan and Kris chat with programmer Rumbleminze! He’s been working on porting NES games to theSuper NES. Why would anyone do this? Well, turns out there’s a number of really interesting reasons, and they discuss all of them ad nauseum. They also talk about Kid Icarus a LOT. Because Kid Icarus is awesome.
At the top of the show, Dan has a heck of a week ahead of him, what with his treatments starting soon. But in far less important news, Kris needs YET ANOTHER new toaster, and spends way too much time complaining about how crappy new televisions are. Also, he spent some time with his friends testing out the 8-player mode in Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, and the results were interesting to say the least!
Finally, in Week Old News, GameStop continues to be the worst, some crazy person put a CRT into a Game Boy, Everybody 1-2 Switch inexplicably tops the Australian charts, and more. Enjoy!
